Burnt Timber Cross-Country

Montana’s premier cross-country motor cross race is held right here in central Montana, just north of Lewistown in the rugged Missouri River breaks near Winifred. The Burnt Timber XC voted most FUN by riding enthusiasts from all over the region, is part of a 7 round racing series. The series can be checked our at www.montanaxc.com. BTXC can be friended on facebook at BurntTimberXCgroups. facebook.com.

BTXC was born of a desire for better riding opportunities for riders around the state. “The Peck Hills Rough Riders” formed out of a small group of riding buddies looking to introduce the riding community to their little patch of heaven.

Billed as the “Brawl in the Breaks”, the race since 2002 has been a huge success. The race has been expanded to two full days of family fun. Starting on a Saturday, kids 6-15, women and beginners race on a short, 5 mile course. The main 20-mile course is opened in the afternoon for a poker fun ride. Saturday night is spent around a community campfire telling incredible tales of riding feats present and past. On Sunday is the 20 mile single track main race.

The course was designed for the serious racer, but all will have a fantastic riding experience. Several hundred racers, family and friends show up for the awesome camping fun.

Primitive camping is offered at no charge, and spectator admission is free. Approxiamately 200 people race. “If you’ve ever wanted to ride or race motorcycle in the Missouri River Breaks, this is a great opportunity.”

BTXC is hosted on the Butcher family’s Rolling Hills Ranch, owned by Ed and Pam Butcher located 45 miles north of Lewistown. The Butchers only ask that participants support organizations like the Montana Trail Behicle Riders Association or Blue Ribbon Coalition in protecting responsible multi-use of our public lands. Winifred and Lewistown Emergancy Services provide support for the race.
