Lewistown, Montana (MT), the geographic center of montana, lies amidst four mountain ranges - the snowies, moccasins, belts and judiths. Lewistown serves as the trade center for montana's fine beef and grain growing areas. Spring creek, a blue ribbon trout stream, runs through the heart of the city adding to the region's excellent recreation reputation.

Lewistown is in the center of Montana surrounded by five area mountain ranges. To the north is the missouri river / ft. Peck recreation area noted for all types of hunting and fishing recreation. All of this mountainous terrain makes for great hunting, hiking, fishing and mountain biking.

Lewistown is actually where the prairie meets the mountains. The town is located in a valley surrounded by several local mountain ranges, including, the Judith, the Snowies, and the Moccasins. Lewistown is about half way between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Major recreational opportunities include downhill and cross country skiing, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, exploring for minerals and rafting.

Lewistown is 130 miles from billings and 105 miles from great falls, both have service for major airlines. Currently great lakes airlines provides daily commercial air service from denver to lewistown. Lewistown has been in national magazines and journals as one of the best places in america to live and hunt & fish.

Big Spring Creek, a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream, originates approximately 8 miles from town and flows through Downtown Lewistown. The Creek provides drinking water as well as recreation and tranquility to residents and visitors of Lewistown.

You may visit the Judith Mountains, 25 miles from Lewistown, Montana. With a population of 8000, Lewistown has all services, air and bus transportation, food, gas and shopping.

You can see seven mountain ranges from this setting. There is a rugged road the last 2 ½ miles to the top of the mountain. There is also a private fishing pond stocked with trout close to the home. You will be able to view deer, elk, turkey and fabulous scenery from the front door. Hiking is available in all directions. Lewistown also boast of Big Spring Creek, which is a blue ribbon trout stream with excellent fly fishing opportunities.

Lewistown is rich in historical points of interest involving the frontier days of the state, of which we are not too far removed, including near by gold mining Ghost Towns such as Maiden and Gilt Edge.

There are numerous local annual events that occur in Lewistown such as, The Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering, The Charlie Russell Chew-Choo train ride and dinner and The Annual Chockecherry Festival to list a few.

You can hook you up with a private place to fish on big spring creek and select just the right flies. Big spring creek is one of lewistown's best kept secrets. Open year round for fishing it rivals livingston's famous creeks for wild trout (browns and rainbows) per mile of creek. When the big rivers are muddied out, big spring creek remains clear and fishable. When the fish are not feeding play a round of golf on one of Lewistown's two golf courses, pine meadows golf course take a hike in neighborhood, or relax and watch the birds feed.
