MSU Extension’s Community Resources Program

MSU Extension’s Community Resources Program is designed to provide information, education, resources, technical assistance and services that help create healthy, safe, thriving Montana communities. A major activity of the Community Resources Program involves providing assistance in developing and securing public and private funds, primarily from grants, to support programming efforts of MSU Extension and local communities.

Specific activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • monitoring needs and interest areas and connecting with possible funding sources
  • reviewing government, foundation and corporate sources of funding, reports and publications
  • providing grant writing and grant management training seminars and workshops
  • providing technical assistance with individual proposals
  • reviewing and commenting on proposals prior to submission

Montana State University Extension Community Development (CD) Program

The Montana State University Extension Community Development (CD) Program provides educational and research-based resources to strengthen the social, economic and environmental well-being of communities across the state. Extension Specialists and Agents work to address community development issues identified by the people of Montana in their home communities.

Specifically, the MSU Extension Community Development Program involves many areas including community strategic visioning, local governance, leadership development training, community tourism assessment and development, economic and business development, business retention and expansion projects, community profiling, conflict management and resolution, economic impact assessments, planning facilitation, and community surveys.

Montana State University Extension Community Development (CD) Program also provide research, technical assistance and trainings and workshops on various community development topics.
