Montana 4-H Application for Youth Leadership Opportunities
The Montana 4-H Center for Youth Development is recruiting energetic, involved 4-H members to serve on three different governing bodies: (1) the Montana 4-H Council, (2) the Montana 4-H Foundation, and (3) the Montana 4-H Youth Cabinet. This single application can be used for any of these positions, and you should indicate which boards you wish to be considered by checking the appropriate boxes. Below is a short description of each governing body and the leadership opportunities available.
Applicant Requirements for serving on the Foundation:
- Must be at least 15 years of age and not older than 18 years of age.
- Not currently serving as a Montana 4-H State ambassador officer nor on the Montana 4-H Council.
- Must be a 4-H member in their home County for at least three consecutive years.
- Must be a current member of a Montana 4-H program (club or County).
- Each teen director shall serve a two-year term.
- You must have the approval of your county agent.
Montana 4-H Youth Cabinet
The Montana 4-H Center for Youth Development is recruiting energetic, involved 4-H members to serve on the Montana 4-H Youth Cabinet. The purpose of the Youth Cabinet is to serve as an avenue for young people to provide advice and guidance to the Montana 4-H program. We are interested in recruiting a broadly representative group of teens who can help move Montana 4-H into the future as a leader in youth development organizations. Each 4-H district may have 2 youth representatives. The Cabinet will meet 4 times each year.
If you are interested in serving on the Montana 4-H Youth Cabinet, please complete the following application form. Montana 4-H Council
The Montana 4-H Council provides guidance to the Montana 4-H program and is advisory to the 4-H Center for Youth Development. The Council consists of two adult volunteer leaders from each of the eight 4-H districts in the state as well as four additional youth, two of whom are selected as “at large” members of the council.

Montana 4-H Foundation
The Montana 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees serves to raise private funds to support the Montana 4-H program. More specifically, the 4-H Foundation assists with the financial support of the Montana 4-H program for members, volunteer leaders and Extension staff. Young people who are a part of 4-H have the opportunity to explore all types of science, health, and citizenship programming delivered through 4-H clubs and camps, as well as after school and in-school. Adult volunteers play an important role in 4-H youth education programs. State 4-H Rec Lab - “100 Years of Green”
If you are 13 or older, mark your calendar for these dates, you won’t want to miss out! The conference will be housed at the Yogo in Lewistown on March 16-18. The workshops have been selected and there is a huge variety of games, team building, dance, project support and crafts- something to interest everyone with eight different workshops in four sessions- thirty-two in all! Fun activities are being planned for both Friday and Saturday nights. Join teen 4-H members from across the state to learn about recreation leadership!

The Extension Office is located in Lewistown, Montana. Jennifer Saunders is the 4-H Program Assistant. There are seventeen clubs with approximately 288 members, and 120 leaders enrolled.
